Slight disclaimer, but I'm no heavily experienced person when it comes to music theory and music production, only focusing on it for about 1-2 months, but I HAVE been practicing piano for a solid 6 years and have been interested in general music since then as well. Take my advice with a grain of salt, as I'm no pro. I think it's not as much of a problem of a melody more than it is structuring of the song and the instrumental. I noticed how it's only under 2 minutes compared to other songs, and my own tutor showed me that song structure is fundamental to make a longer song. However, if that's not something you're bothered by, since structure isn't as impactful as instrumental progression (so i dub it), it probably lies within the lack of any progress going on for the song. It's not inherently a bad thing if used in a certain context, however that dull feeling of not moving anywhere with the music makes it stale and dry quickly. It's a very hollow instrumental compared to what other good or popular composers have, like how there's only a bit of drums and a small plucking sound, and it only intensified near the end, but no progression was being made with the vocals themselves, let alone the drums or the tension of the song in general. Again, I'm no pro but I think the melody/vocals are fine, despite some weaknesses that I myself can't explain, but the instrumental and possibly the structure trying to encapsulate and utilize it are underwhelming. You're probably aware of this but don't put too many loud and strong instruments in either, otherwise it'll just sound like white noise.
as a person who has used fl a few times you just throw random bullshit until you don't see any problems with the melodys
im gonna type like a really long essay here so i dont blame you if you dont want to read this lol
1) i notice the drop(?) is at the end of the song, so the beginning and middle parts of the song is kinda to put it lightly, boring and slow compared to the ending, maybe the drop can come into the song much more quicker so it doesnt get too boring, plus the drop is also very short so when the drop comes in, the song could stay in that intense pace until the end where it gets all slow again
2) i noticed as well that you only have a few instruments, a music box following along with the vocals and a bass repeating every 2 sections or so and a kick also repeating every section, for the beginning this is fine and when it starts to get to the drop from what i can hear is that you added a snare a few percussive sounds but thats not really a lot and it gets old really quick, you have to add a few more instruments here and there while also removing a few maybe in a curtain parts of the song, like a pad or a piano (of course you have to find sounds that fits the tone of the song)
3) i dont know how you make music but you should start first with the instrumentals of the song before doing the vocals or you can also do both along the way, of course that doesnt stop you from doing vocals first and then the instrumental but imo i dont really like that type of workflow
4) for the drop from what i can tell you only changed the drum sounds and i think you added another instrument following the enemy's vocals? could be wrong here but yeah the drop is pretty small and not too different from the rest of the song so much more instruments would definitely help (dont over do it though otherwise it'll be too hard to listen to)
also i dont wanna be an asshole here im just here to give criticism and hope that you can improve along the way of your music making stuff just keep on practicing and getting feedback from other people while also watching producer content on youtube to learn from it, there's a bunch of people but my personal favorite is simon servida, sorry for making this really long lol
also im not a good melody maker too but you can use sample packs to help you if you find one you like and also simon servida (the guy i mentioned) has a few tutorials about melodies pretty sure so try giving that a go
I'm not really good at music, so I can try: Try to make a melody for make the instrument and vocals not to be together, the instrumentals could be more than following the vocals
