Alright so most of the people don't really know how to do art in general. And I wont explain the stuff like shadows, anatomy and etc. Shit I'ma spit here is only about fnf type of sprites. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Now lets start from choosing what platform you're gonna use for drawing and animating. You can use any animation program actually. But I'd recommend using either Adobe Flash CS4 ( the one phantomarcade uses ) or Adobe Animate ( the one I use ) ----------------------------------------------------------------- Aight. Now we've choosed our program, now lets get starting with the design of the character. Making a good character design is pretty hard for newbies. I'd recommend watching this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8wm9ti-gzLM&t=1096s Now the only thing I'm going to add is that you have to do it simple, yet detailed. Let's take Daddy Dearest as an example. His design is interesting. His face is pretty detailed while the rest of his body is pretty simple. Just go crazy with your desings! ----------------------------------------------------------------- Now let's get starting with drawing your original character! The mistake most people do is that they're trying to make it perfect. Just know that little errors in outline are fine. No need to waste time fixing all of them. Make sure that it's smooth enough to not hurt artist eyes! Use BF's sprite as an example of character's height. BF'S height is somewhere close to 100 cm. Just like pico. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Now let's get started with shading your character. I'm pretty lazy to explain shading since it's a hard shit so just watch this clip of phantomarcade's stream: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=psiokV1IMeo ------------------------------------------------------------------ Ok. So you have a cool ass sprite of your character. Now you're questioning ( UMM..???..!!! H0W do I AnimATe dis...??? ) Let me explain. First of all, turn head, body, arms, legs + shoes into symbols. Next.. animate it! Use these tutorials to know how Adobe Flash CS4 and Adobe Animate work: Adobe Animate: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-doxha22QI Adobe Flash CS4 ( or any versions of it ): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHOQkooK0qY One thing you should know. DO NOT, USE. TWEENS. ------------------------------------------------------------------ The last part is to how to draw + animate poses for your charact and export the xml and png of the spritesheet. Watch this tutorial to understand some stuff: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E6UTwpXcpDA&t=1386s Poses are the hardest part of any fnf sprite, just changing the face isn't enough. Usually tall characters have dynamic poses. Like AGOTI, Whitty and Tabi. But some of them have calm poses. Like Nikusa and.. ( IDK TBH ) Short characters have similar story, ------------------------------------------------------------------ Thanks to people for creating those tutorials mentioned in this post. I hope this might help you with creating cool sprites for this silly rhythm game! Take care and know that no matter what, there will be people who will enjoy your art, music and etc.
