ideas for fnfansite | Friday Night Fansite

heya all! i've had some ideas for fnfansite, and whilst I already forwarded these to fabr a while ago, I think it'd be good to get some feedback from actual users of this site and adjustments and stuff that could be good Keep in mind all these suggestions were around a month ago so if they've been added since I thought of them, let me know. Alright, prepare for the text wall haha keep in mind this was directed towards fabr but it's been transcribed here so forgive me if the text directs to you, it doesn't actually mean you the reader. home page: the home page is good, but there's not much to it. I think that it could probably be merged with the "news" section, so when you scroll down you'll see the slideshow of news and stuff. in my opinion, I think the trailers and the "what is fnfansite" section could swap places, maybe make the trailer previews a bit bigger. also, the "welcome to..." text should be centred at the top. I like the theming though, not much else to improve on here. forums: here's where a lot of the ideas come into place. first of all, I think a members online list would fit well in here, maybe on the left or the right. maybe just peoples display names, maybe profile pictures too. one thing that could be cool is having badges next to people who have them (e.g. verified has a tick next to their name, moderator has a star next to their name). this could be expanded by having a separate "staff/verified online" section. even though there's already a members section, it'd benefit well here, because having to traverse multiple pages to find small information is hard (even though that sounds lazy) next idea, forum statistics (inspired by Hypixel forums, image attached below) just a fun little thing that could be useful in some scenarios. not much to add there, just a cool little thing. I'm pretty sure Hypixel Forums and FNFansite Forums run on the same forum engine so it shouldn't be hard.

(Hypixel Forums image, showing Forum statistics like Newst Threads, Messages, Members and other stuff.) next idea, merge "rules" and "site changelog". hell, why not just make them visible the second you enter the forum site. maybe small previews for site changelog, but definitely make the rules visible. another idea, merge some of the categories into sub categories. for example, make a "fnf mods" category and put "mod discussion, mod uploads, and recruitment" categories into this category, effectively making them sub categories. this'd just clean up the forum page a bit and make it less cluttered for new people. another one is to expand on "new posts" i like the idea, but you can only see the three newest posts, and with the lack of moderation on the site, the most you get is hot garbage. i think, what would be cool is if you added like an arrow to scroll (image attached) through more of the new posts. hell, why not add "sort by:" search functions so you can see posts just in general. for example, sort by verified, most liked, etc.

(Old image, concept for scrolling newest posts.) play section: there's not much you can do here, I would suggest optimizing load times but there's not much you can do with that and html5. one thing I would consider though is adding the mods name underneath the logo in case the logo may be hard to read. for example: FNF: VS Imposter V3 would go underneath the imposter logo or something. also, I don't know if you can, but make the full screen put you into full screen on the site instead of going onto the GitHub page. also, maybe just like a full screen logo next to the full screen button. also, instead of clicking on the boxes and making them just disappear, perhaps a way to just minimize them? or put all the text below the actual game, so it doesn't obstruct your game and you can read it while it loads. also (I know I've said "also" a lot), when you click off and back on the window, the audio glitches out, I don't know why it happens, but its just a minor inconvenience. would be nice to see it fixed. notifications: some people complain, I actually like the notification system. I do think people commenting on a post that's not yours shouldn't notify you as much as it does. I think a way to combat this would to have a "do not disturb" mode. notifications wouldn't pop up on the bell with this enabled, but you'll still see the notifications if you click on the bell and read them. also, similar to twitter, recommended posts could pop up. maybe if you could do like a quality check before sending notifications, or maybe send notifications about good/high quality posts, or underrated posts. also, in the settings tab, change "email notifications" to something like "site notifications" unless you're planning on emailing people about site notifications like how discord does. in that case, add a way to unsubscribe. profile: there's a few tweaks i think that could be added. first off, a "friends" feature. separate from followers, adding someone as a friend (via a request first) would show up in a "friends" tab on their profile. this'll come into play later next, similar to gamebanana, adding configurable modules. just customizable boxes like "mario or sonic:" as top text and bottom text "answer" obviously there'd be a limit of like 10 or something so the website doesn't overload on information about people but just short facts like that could help. more profile stuff!!: something that could help privacy is by expanding on the "public" and "private" options. adding a "followers only" and "friends only" privacy option could help people if they wanted to display information but dont want everyone to see it. of course, not everyone would check your profile but it'd be nice to have another thing would be to get a notification whenever one of your "friends" makes a post. this would be default toggled off but it'd be nice to know what your friends are posting i've heard about profile themes from twitter, maybe a "theme marketplace" where you can browse user uploaded themes and use them for your own. maybe even animated themes if possible? posting: please, disable the "captcha" everytime someone tries to post. everything else here is perfect. maybe a way to change fonts? although thats not necessary.
