I learned Haxe through a combination of messing around with the code and reading the official documentation:
https://haxe.org/manual/introduction.html
I suggest just looking at the fnf source code, make sure you followed the compiling guide and have a small knowing of haxeflixel, after you just mess around for a while, you should start to know what your doing.
That's how it went for me.
