Everyone charts differently so there's not exactly much you can specifically focus on, mainly just try doing stuff like switch hands when you chart 2 jacks in a row, not be too repetitive with your patterns and just overall stuff like that.
Another thing that can be pretty useful to becoming a more flexible charter is to learn Inst + Vocals, it introduces you to some more varied patterns instead of just singles, it also teaches a proper way to do doubles where you put a vocal note and an inst note.
Check the pinned pattern sheet for some patterning stuff if u wanna learn other cool patterns to use
a few thing i try to do when charting:
- avoid jacks at all costs unless a character repeats the same note multiple times in a row (and even then don't do them if they'd be too excessive)
- avoid doubles or above unless a part is slow, a character hits two notes at once, or you want to put special emphasis on a particular note
- if a hold note is followed immediately by another of the same note, make the hold note slightly shorter so that the end isn't touching the other note
- other patterns like rolls (making the character spin in a circle), alternates (where a character flips between two different notes repeatedly), and stairs (where the notes create a four-note-long diagonal line) are good to do as long as they're not the entire chart
- if a section of the song is repeated, use the same charting as the last time that section was used
- if you have gimmick notes where you have to hit them, don't put them next to notes in the middle of a section (therefore causing unnecessary doubles) - either incorporate them directly into the charting or add them in sections where BF isn't singing
btw, it's also okay to break some of these rules if it's on the opponent's side (for example, bambi songs often have bambi himself do tons of spam and jacks, and parts where the opponent screams are best accompanied by hitting all 4 notes at once)
